"Almost ready to die for the cause", quip
the Perth-based collective that sprang from an abortive Perth chapter of
Clan Analogue to embrace the necessarily less genre-fied WA scene. They
have put together a comp with a funky front end, before the always-reliable
Audio Cephlon leads darkly into a second half rich in cabaret. There are
several great tracks here - Descend Here's Would You Let Me Have This Dance?,
Myki now trading as The Plastik Scene (shit, the 80's!) with a much improved
effort, and Bozo's affecting Addict Bro. The last two, inevitably ambient,
tracks are superb. The supurbly named Waltzing~Walker's cheese purcussion
fusillade, and the even more supurbly named Paul Savage-Wroth with the
eerily picturesque Desert Hallucination. But it's the opening trio of LoKeyFu,
with a lot of style off a gorgeous first beat, Waterslide's rolling bass
jam and Skender's hilarious funk Infernal Animals that sell it. You'll
hate some tracks others will love. There is a data track with bios and
stuff, and the link below (http://www.semikazi.com).
